Social Eating House
Soho
Social Eating House is an informal and affordable dining experience with a contemporary menu paying homage to the best of British cooking with international influences.
About Social Eating House
Chef Patron Paul Hood has created a diverse menu that highlights his personal style of cooking as honed over almost ten years of working closely alongside Atherton.
The venue is spread over three floors, besides the first floor bar and street level restaurant, there is a hidden eight seat chef’s counter in the kitchen. Diners at the counter have the option of a la carte or a special chef’s tasting menu which changes daily. The space is perfect for a more discreet dinner, or as a unique venue for a special occasion.
The simple yet carefully created dishes are complimented by relaxed and attentive service in the comfortable, humble setting. Inspired by the buzz surrounding the resurgence of Soho, Atherton’s vision has been to create a restaurant where diners can enjoy the key elements of the current London dining scene in an informal and social setting where the surroundings are as vibrant as the food. Russell Sage Studios, the restaurant’s designers, have worked closely with Atherton to create an eclectic room full of character. Exposed brick walls, traditional white-washed copper ceilings and weathered leather banquet seats are complimented by key pieces of restored furniture on the ground-floor dining area.
Upstairs is one of Soho’s hidden gems – award-winning bar the Blind Pig. Electric interiors with a vintage twist of antique mirrored ceilings, reclaimed wooden chairs and a copper-topped bar. Classic cocktails are served alongside a more playful menu inspired by children’s stories. Long and Short Great British Tails features drinks drinking their inspiration from authors such as AA Milne, JK Rowling and Roald Dahl. The Blind Pig has been nominated as Best International Restaurant bar at the prestigious Tales of The Cocktail awards, winning in 2015 and achieving runner up in 2017.
After opening in 2013, Social Eating House was awarded a Michelin star in the 2014 guide which it has retained ever since. It was also awarded second place in Timeout’s top 100 London restaurants in 2017.
