Vidago Palace Hotel

North Portugal

Vidago Palace Hotel is a 5 star luxury hotel, member of the Leading Hotels of the World chain, and is located in the North of Portugal.

The hotel was originally commissioned by the penultimate Portuguese king, D. Carlos, who wanted to build a hotel to the specifications of the European elite who chose Vidago as a SPA retreat.

A century after opening to the public, and after a less positive period in its history, the Palace not only regained the splendor of other times, but shown brighter than ever before. Of the hotel’s 5 stars, one belongs to the wonderful renovation work by award-winning interior architects José Pedro Lopes Vieira and Diogo Rosa Lã, who were able to bring the Palace into 21st century, while maintaining the place’s timeless Belle Époque charm. Another star goes to the magical forest that surrounds the hotel and to the romantic gardens than can be seen from some its 70 luxurious and tasteful rooms. The third star goes to the SPA (design by Pritzker Prize winner Siza Vieira), which offers the therapeutic qualities of Vidago’s mineral waters to revitalize body, mind and spirit. The fourth goes to the golfe course, a par 72, whose redesign was based on the original course of 1936. The fifth star goes to the Salão Nobre and the Winter Garden, to of the four restaurants at the Palace, where Chef-cum-magician Rui Paula reinterprets the regional menu with the respect it deserves and with an innovative eye that the most demanding dinners look for.
