Bodrum, Turkey

Back in 1977, Ayla Emiroğlu established a pension and a private beach in Bodrum. Her original aim is to create an inspiring environment for writers, painters, and other intellectuals.

The seeds of the Macakizi concept, continues to flourish with the vision of Ayla’s son Sahir. Since 2000, Macakizi is located in the north of the peninsula, where it has transformed into a beautiful boutique hotel with a wooden deck with shaded private terrace that offers the most luxurious and elite venue for sunbathing, swimming and socialising.

Nestled in the hillside, Macakizi overlooks the sparkling waters of the Aegean. Adorned with vibrant bougainvilleas and luscious plants the hotel has 74 rooms including 21 suites with either a sea or garden view, all refurbished in 2013.

Apart from the fine dining restaurant, small plates and amazing summer cocktails are served on the sundeck, while the Mediterraneo Pavilion caters for intimate gourmet dinners, and other functions; The dramatic glass-enclosed area with pool backdrop overlooks the Saint Tropesque bay of Türkbükü.

Face and body treatments are available at unique Spa from Parisian cosmetics maison NUXE using all-natural formula oils, while the Turkish Bath offers traditional hammam sessions. Macakizi offers day cruises on its motor yacht, ideal to discover the Aegean on land and sea.
