Getting a Bit Catty

November 5th 2013

  • Last Tuesday the Limelight team took a walk on the wild side with some fierce felines at the Big Cat Sanctuary.

Part of the Wildlife Heritage Foundation (WHF), Big Cat Sanctuary allowed us to get up close and personal with not only the world’s largest cats, but the rarest. We travelled to Kent to meet owner Steve Sampson, whose family own the site, and his team for an experience like no other. We were able to tour the grounds while learning about their breeding and reintroduction programs and test our nerves by hand feeding the lions, tigers, and the rare Amur Leopard followed by a brilliant afternoon tea in the lion observatory.

    The Lion Lodge

With access granted by appointment only, the Big Cat Sanctuary offers its guests a range of encounters and experiences that cannot be matched anywhere in the UK, including a full package with a night’s stay in one of their luxury lodges,  and the chance to walk a puma. The Big Cat sanctuary has a friendly and knowledgeable staff that are not only dedicated to the cats, but to ensuring a top experience for those who visit.

The Limelight verdict: skip the ordinary zoo visit and think outside the cage.
