And relax…. at Akasha Spa

November 27th 2014

  • Stepping away from the hustle and bustle of Regent Street I had the chance to escape into Hotel Café Royal’s hidden sanctuary; the Akasha Holistic Wellbeing Centre.

Walking into Akasha the atmosphere showcased wellbeing and relaxation; the perfect preparation ahead of the Seven Chakra Spa Experience which concentrates on helping you rediscover your energy.

“You may fool yourself some of the time, you may fool others some of the time. But you can never fool your body. It is the most sensitive barometer of our inner world.” – Deborah L. Hall

Before the treatment begins your therapist will ask you to choose two crystals which reflect the two Chakras that your body requires the most attention; those that you choose will both be explained and how they will be focused upon during your treatment.

The treatment includes reflexology techniques and massages, which for me included a foot massage and intense shoulder and back massage whilst holding healing crystals for a short period throughout.

To conclude, warm oil is gently poured on your forehead (from the oil fountain) which helps you reach a deep state of relaxation and awakes the ‘third eye’ (aka your intuition Chakra)

Something to bear in mind the oil is massaged into your scalp so if you are heading out in the evening I would recommend having the treatment earlier in the day.

Leaving the treatment room I felt very relaxed and connected with my thoughts & feelings; the perfect time to take advantage and spend some time by the amazing 18m lap pool.  As well as treatments available Akasha also offers a sauna, steam room and Jacuzzi to relax in.
