German Gymnasium is a spectacular Grade II-listed building between King’s Cross and St Pancras. Its ground floor and extensive outdoor terrace is a tribute to those classic European Grand Cafés, serving great mittel-European food right through from breakfast until dinner.
The mezzanine is a refined restaurant, including its own cocktail bar and overlooking the action down in the buzzing Grand Café. It’s a seriously stylish space, serving classic dishes like veal schnitzel alongside contemporary creations like Scottish diver scallops with mettwurst smoked pork sausage, Granny Smith apple, pistachio, butternut squash and saffron potato. Its wine list is something special too, with wonderful wines from Germany, Austria and beyond.
